May is a month filled with celebrations … starting this weekend with Mother’s Day! Plus, graduations and confirmations are marked on everybody’s calendars. I always have room for dessert. ALWAYS. While I envy some of my dainty co-workers and friends who are full after drinking a diet soda and eating a salad, I am not that girl. I could quite happily eat a piece of chocolate cake every day – and twice on Sunday.
Valentine’s Day can feel a bit commercial sometimes with all of the greeting cards, singing teddy bears and high-priced flowers. But you know what? Doing something sweet for someone you love is always a good idea. Here at Tastefully Simple, we’ve been swooning over Very Cherry Cheese Ball Mix this month – part of a limited-edition set with Chocolate Twisty Grahams. I guarantee it will taste better than anything from a drugstore. And knowing you cared enough to make something special? Well, they’ll definitely feel the love.
We all have our little indulgences. For me? It’s a dark, rich cup of steaming espresso. (We live two minutes away from the drive-thru of a major coffee chain, and well – let’s just say the entire staff knows the names of my children.) To feel less guilty about this little extravagance, I often get a special treat for my three-year-old. His favorite choice? A cake pop. With Valentine’s Day coming, it seemed like the perfect time to finally try making my own cake pops at home. This recipe features one of my all-time favorite products, and it turned out BEAUTIFULLY.
Ever get that feeling at night where you want some chocolate? Just a small piece – enough to stop the craving. Then you can carry on with your night, right? Except I have that feeling every night. And so does my husband. So we give in to the craving. And it’s time to start eating something with a little fiber. These brownies seem a little unconventional (and they are), but go with it – you’ll be glad you gave it a try!
I’m not big into Christmas baking, but I do love sweets. Luckily, these cookies are super easy to make, and the little dollop of fruit spread makes them extra pretty. One more thing checked off the list!
Biscotti are a classic dipper, because they are crisp enough to stand up to a beverage without falling apart. And their long, thin shape makes them easy to dip without burning your fingers. For extra fun, dip these biscotti in a cup of Oh My! Chai.
I love putting candy canes on the tree. They add great color, and they’re small enough to tuck anywhere. Then, when it’s time to kick it up a notch, they go great with chocolate – just like these cookies.
‘Tis the season to get in touch with your inner Home-Ecky Becky and bake! This is a persona I rarely visit – I love to cook, but baking is not my strength. So imagine my surprise when I was able to successfully make these fabulous, chocolate-dipped almond cookies!
I love fall and comfort foods. But sometimes, nothing hits the spot like chocolate. These rich bars are perfect for potlucks and parties – they’re fancy enough to impress, and they’re not a lot of fuss.
Cute up the season with this tasty (and super easy!) pumpkin dip! Even if you’re not particularly crafty, you can make this simple dip, hollow out a tiny pie pumpkin and serve up a whole lot of tasty cuteness.
Coffee – sometimes it’s the only thing that gets me through the day. Well, that and sweets. So imagine my excitement when I found this dip – it’s literally my two life-savers in one dish!
