I have a confession to make … I almost never know what’s for dinner until after I get home from work and I’m standing in my kitchen with the fridge door open. We have what I like to call “Once Around the Kitchen” about three nights a week. I alternate that with another popular favorite called “Fend For Yourself.” Fortunately, I have a very forgiving family and a cupboard full of Tastefully Simple sauces and seasonings!
A couple weeks ago I was going all “Home-Ecky Becky” and planned (planned!) to make a luscious beef stew using our wonderful Tender Pot Roast Sauce … but someone (who shall remain nameless) (OK it was me) forgot to take the pot roast out of the freezer. Drat. So I improvised with a pound of ground beef. I tossed some chopped baby carrots, chunks of potato, green beans and a little chopped onion into the slow cooker on low and let it cook all day. Very tasty! Next time, I wouldn’t even confess to the error and I’ll call it “Savory Hamburger Stew.”
I just threw this together without really measuring – so I’m going to create what looks like a recipe below, but it’s really just a guide. I hope you will give this a try – super easy and economical! Enjoy!

Savory Hamburger Stew
Testing Notes:
- Like I said, this is a very forgiving recipe. Feel free to use any veggies your family likes!
- I peeled the potatoes because we prefer it that way, but you could skip that if time is an issue.
- Cutting the vegetables into uniform pieces will help them cook evenly.
