Remember lemonade stands? I know I dragged the card table to the corner several times a summer to make some extra cash (I no longer remember what I did with my riches). And there’s something about lemonade that just makes summer feel relaxed and free. Same with fruit … it’s just summery. Combine the flavors of lemonade with fresh fruit, and then add in a flower shape – it’s like a plate of summer. Serve it as a fun snack for the kids, serve it at a block party, serve it when you have “the ladies” over for coffee. Really, there’s no summer day that isn’t begging for this cheese ball.

Combine first 2 ingredients; stir to blend. Chill 2 hours. Shape into a ball. Decorate cheese ball with grape halves (like flower petals) and a blueberry in the middle. Serve with fresh fruits, Twisty Grahams™ or cubed Absolutely Almond Pound Cake Mix™. Makes about 16 servings.

Tips:

  • Pat the cheese ball down slightly so it’s more in the shape of a disk. This will help the grapes and blueberry stay on top of the dessert.
  • If the grapes are really large, cut off just the outer edge of the grape (rather than using a whole half). You might be able to fit more grape “petals” onto the cheese ball if the grape pieces are smaller.
  • Many grocery stores sell “edible flowers” in their produce section. These usually include nasturtiums or pansies. They’re edible because they have been grown without any chemicals. Edible flowers make a beautiful garnish on the plate, or you could decorate the top of the cheese ball with flowers instead of grapes and a blueberry.
  • Low-fat cream cheese may be used, but to get a really pretty, perfect cheese ball, use regular good name brand cream cheese.
  • This product was designed to be a fruit dip prepared with cream cheese and marshmallow crème, so the cheese ball just made with cream cheese is going to be delightfully tart.
