Cinnamon Bread

Family

My friend and colleague, Sara Gronholz, has been a guest blogger numerous times. She is truly a gourmet cook. I admire her ability to be inspired by nearly everything she tries, anywhere, and then “Tastefully Simplize” it. Her most recent concoction was for an absolutely delicious Cinnamon Bread. In this case, she was inspired by a photo she saw on the website Pinterest.com, and then she whipped up this treat in one try.

Sara is not only a talented cook and baker, she also writes exceptional training programs for all of us here at Tastefully Simple Headquarters, AND she is an amazing mom to Emma and the beautiful wife of Eric. Chef … Trainer … Mom … Wife … and so much more – probably just like you. I don’t know how she does it, but I’m sure GLAD she does it!

I encourage you to give her Cinnamon Bread a try. Whenever YOU invent a particularly delicious Tastefully Simple recipe – do let me know! I love to feature new recipes here, and I know our readers are interested in new yummy stuff!

Cinnamon Bread

Submitted by Sara Gronholz, HQ

For the bread:

For the glaze:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. water or orange juice
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Quickly and firmly stir the first three ingredients together in a mixing bowl for 20-30 seconds. Do not over mix; the batter will be lumpy. Spread batter into a greased 9×5 loaf pan. Pour melted butter over the top of the batter. Bake 50-55 minutes until loaf is golden brown and pulls away from sides of pan.

For the glaze, blend powdered sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl. Add water 1 tablespoon at a time until desired consistency.

While the bread is still warm and in the pan, score the top of the bread both crosswise and lengthwise several times with a sharp knife, cutting about 1 inch deep. Remove the loaf from the pan and place it on a serving plate. Pour the glaze over the top while the bread is still warm; let stand about 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Testing notes:

  • This amazing bread made the whole house smell phenomenal, and it tasted best when it was still warm.
  • Add nuts or dried fruit for an added flavor boost.

I didn’t have any cinnamon on hand, so I used the Caramel Cinnamon Sprinkles in place for plain cinnamon in the recipe, and it was superb! Thanks for such a delicious recipe!!

I baked mine in a square baker for roughly 30 minutes to make it look more like a pan of cinnamon rolls. I also used half the amount of glaze and it was still great. My family LOVED it! Thanks for the great recipe!
