There’s nothing like relaxing in front of the TV on a cold winter’s day with a big bowl of salty snacks on your lap. This time of the year is perfect to cuddle up under a blanket and catch up on your favorite shows – I like a housewives marathon, but of course football is popular at this time of year. Whatever you watch, make sure it doesn’t upstage your snacks. Big games especially need big flavors, and these pretzels are the perfect way to make sure the whole family comes back for more. I based this recipe on a Buffalo Snack Mix recipe a friend used to make, but I think these pretzels will be one of our new favorites!
Bold Buffalo Pretzels
- 1 packet dry Bold Buffalo Blue Cheese Dip Mix
- ½ cup olive oil
- 2 Tbsp. hot sauce
- 15 oz. bag pretzels
Combine dip mix, olive oil and hot sauce in a large bowl; stir in pretzels. Marinate 1 hour, tossing every 10 minutes. Spread pretzels on a large cookie sheet and bake at 350˚ for 10 minutes.
Bold Buffalo Pretzels
Testing Notes
- I used pretzels with the traditional shape, but pretzels sticks or rings or any other shape would work just as well. I used a 15 oz. bag, but anything in the 12-16 oz. range will be fine.
- There was some oil left in the pan when I pulled the pretzels out of the oven. Don’t drizzle the leftover oil over the pretzels; just cool the pretzels on a paper towel for a few minutes and they’ll get dry and crunchy.
- Serve the pretzels with a little blue cheese (or ranch) dressing for dipping. Buffalo wing fans will really like them this way!
- The kids and I ate the pretzels and I brought them into work the next day. No one seemed to think they were too spicy, but you could always use extra blue cheese dressing to tame the heat if you don’t like spicy food.

I love to use the Roasted Garlic oil to make pretzels, even used the Hoppin Jalapeño and Bacon dip. Yum!
I tried these and mine tasted burned. I followed the time and temperature correctly. Does it make a difference about the olive oil used??
Mine too tasted burnt, and didn’t have a strong buffalo/hot taste… I was surprised because the dip is so potent… Maybe some additional hot sauce would help with the heat and lowering the heat or placing them lower in the oven… Will just have to try it again. We LOVE this kind of snack at our house!
