Honey Apple Grilled Burgers
At my house, I am the Chief Cook and my honey is the Chief Bottle Washer. It’s an arrangement that works well for us, as we both excel at our respective duties. However, on “grill nights” the cooking goes to my dear husband, Stevie the Wonder Griller. Give me a stove and I’ll make you something good to eat … give me a grill and I’ll either make extra-dry jerky or hockey pucks, depending on the day.

Mediterranean Chicken Breasts
Think about the last celebration event you went to (a wedding, an awards ceremony, any type of banquet). What were they serving? Usually, chicken with an Italian-style sauce. They typically serve this type of meal because people like it, it’s easy enough to prepare and it’s expected at “fancy” gatherings. So my challenge to you is to have your own “fancy” night at home.

Strawberry Mousse Almond Pound Cake Trifle
I have an especially exciting recipe to share with you today – it comes to us from consultant Tina Dodge (IL), who participated in our Tastefully Simple Recipe Contest on Facebook a few of weeks ago. Since cake is often the dessert of choice for celebrations, and May is often a month of celebrations, Tina’s Trifle is perfect timing! Every time I make a trifle, my family is super impressed. It makes a lot, so plan for a crowd, or plan to make nice with your neighbors … they’ll love you for a share of this trifle! Read More»

Cheeseburger Dip
‘Tis the season for cookouts … and cookout-inspired food. As much as I love a grilled burger, I understand that sometimes you do have to eat other things – like dip that tastes like a grilled burger! Read More»

Mom Treats for Mother’s Day
We are nearing the middle of May, and you know what that means … Moms across the nation are bracing themselves for burnt toast, rare sausage and pancakes with extra syrup. (Not to mention plates, napkins and forks with extra syrup, and possibly some variety of crumbs, juice and syrup on their bedspread.)

Garden Veggie Tomatoes
Confession: I don’t always eat five or more servings of veggies each day. I know, I know – I should. I LIKE vegetables, it’s just that I also like so much other food. Now that spring is here, there are plenty of fresh vegetables around, giving me one less excuse. Now I just need to make them fun to eat …

Shrimp Tacos
I am not a frequent cooker of shrimp. Or seafood. Or fish, even. I grew up land-locked with nary a fishing pole in sight. My family dined on hamburger, the occasional pork chop and canned soup (and not that expensive chunky kind). So when I stumbled upon a recipe for Shrimp Tacos while searching for a recipe for our Cinco De Mayo celebration, I thought “Hmmmm … should I? Could I?”

Easy-to-Eat Taco Burgers
I love tacos. But I don’t love cleaning up, and unfortunately I have some messy eaters at my house (true confessions: I am one of said messy eaters). Bam – grill the meat in patties, use slices of cheese and tomatoes instead of shreds, and wrap it all up in a tortilla. Even my family should be able to eat these tacos with just one napkin apiece (that’s a rarity for us).

Ham Asperagus Rolls and Caprese Salad
Spring has sprung! I know it’s true, because our supermarkets are loaded with asparagus and it’s finally at a reasonable price! My mom has been an avid hunter of wild asparagus for years – I think she was taught by her father, who always referred to the elusive stalks as “asper-grass.” I wouldn’t go near the stuff until I was well into my 30s … and I don’t really know why. It’s quite delightful!

Tikka Chicken
I love chicken. It’s versatile, it’s often on sale, and there’s a million ways to cook it … and yet, sometimes I need a new idea. Enter Tikka Chicken – it’s mostly ingredients I already have on hand, yet it has a whole new flavor. And it cooks in the slow cooker … Read More»
